Sinews of War and Trade: Laleh Khalili & Rafeef Ziadah

In Sinews of War and Trade (Verso) Laleh Khalili, Professor of International Politics at Queen Mary, University of London, explores the vital importance of ports and shipping in defining the new battlegrounds of the 21st century. In particular, she argues, the Arabian Peninsula is the crucial nexus for the transportation of the goods and commodities that define and enable contemporary capitalism, inevitably making it a region of compelling strategic importance and of military and diplomatic conflict.
