Our Author of the Month for November is Nobel Prizewinner Louise Glück.
A poet of terse compression and lyric charge, Glück builds atmospheric landscapes from unnervingly simple and understated language. Her thirteenth book, Winter Recipes from the Collective, is her first since winning the Nobel Prize in 2020; in her acceptance speech, she praised ‘the intimate, private voice, which public utterance can sometimes augment or extend, but never replace’; it’s that voice which sings and speaks throughout her work.
